M. paratuberculosis found more often in Crohn's patients. A British research group reported finding genetic evidence of the presence of the animal pathogen in tissues from 92% (34/37) Crohn's patients studied vs. 26% (9/34) control tissues. The living organism was isolated from 42% (14/33) of Crohn's patient tissues vs. 3/33 or 9% of controls.
