What is the best test for Johne’s disease? A panel of five experts developed consensus recommendations on diagnostic testing for the detection of paratuberculosis in cattle in the United States. These recommendations cover seven specific situations when diagnostic testing is required for dairy or beef cattle herds. These recommendations were accepted by the U.S. National Johne’s Working Group and the Johne’s Disease Committee of the U.S. Animal Health Association. They were published in the December 15, 2006 issue of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association which has agreed to make them publicly available at their website.
